Syringa vulgaris Wonderblue

Syn. 'Little Boy Blue', 'Wonder Blue'

Bred by Fiala from 'Tiffany Blue' and 'Rochester' and introduced in 1989.

Fragrant single flowers are blue; the 'Rochester' parentage is apparent in the many florets which are multipetalled. (This is a form where there is only a single layer of petals but instead of the typical four, could have many more, as may be seen in the image.)

This is a semi-dwarf cultivar expected to grow into a suckering shrub 1.5 m or so. It is not given a rating in Fiala's book because it was introduced after the book's publication.
