This is reported to be a 2nd filial x prestoniae raised by Skinner and introduced in 1944 with name presumed registered in 1953

'Donald Wyman' is a late flowering hybrid sporting magenta single flowers with minimal fragrance. It appears to be pest free and is believed to be resistant to blight; rated 'very good' in Fiala's book and considered amongst the best in its color class.

Growth is upright and expected to mature at 3 x 2 m, best grown as a tree form, and has shown no tendency to sucker.
