Syringa x hyacinthiflora Maiden's Blush

Introduced by Skinner in 1966, this is considered to be amongst his best works.

As may be observed from plates in Fiala's book, 'Maiden's Blush' has a tendency to display different shades of pink depending upon soil conditions and climate. We have noticed this color variation even when plants are grown under almost identical conditions in the greenhouse.

It is an early season lilac producing single light to medium pink flowers over an extended period, and exudes a heady fragrance.

Smaller growing than the average vulgaris this is a suckering shrub expected to grow to 2 x 2m upon maturity.
